Our Oboe Reed Blank is a semi-finished reed for the maker who wants to skip the early stages and put their own scrape on a quality starting point. We do the gouging, shaping, and tying, you do the work that makes the reed sound the way you want it to.

For makers who already know what they like

If you've found a scrape that works for you and just want to save the time of preparing blanks from scratch, this is the answer. Each blank is built from the same cane and to the same dimensions we use for our finished Crook & Staple reeds, so you're starting from a known, reliable base. Strip what you need from the heart, balance the sides, finish the tip, and the reed is yours from there.

These blanks are intentionally left unscraped and are not playable as supplied. They're sold for finishing by reed-makers, students learning to scrape, and teachers using them in lessons. Price shown is for one blank.
