Professionals & students find these reeds great

The free blowing nature of these reeds allows you to play the bassoon without putting extra obstacles in the way. The allows you to start notes super quietly and very loudly with no problem. All of the cane used to make these professional bassoon reeds is tested on colour, density & flexibility before being made into a reed. This means that these reeds are very consistent and are great to play on!

Medium strength, creating a warm sound

With approximately a 27mm blade length, a 29mm tube and a 16.5mm tip width, this professional bassoon reed has a medium strength, allowing users to hold a relaxed, open embouchure throughout their performance. This helps to create a warm 'Germanic' sound which will fill any venue!

Tested by professionals - a great reed every time

Each of our professional reeds is thoroughly tested by a professional bassoonist to ensure optimal quality and consistency, making this reed the perfect choice for experts and students alike.

Don't just take our word, have a listen!

Professional Bassoon Reeds

I love these reeds. Have been using them for a couple of years. They speak easily over the whole range and produce a great sound with minimal adjustment. A pleasure to find something so reliable.

Excellent Reeds

The reeds are great and play very well in all registers. They require very little adjustment over time. Very satisfied!

good reeds

This is my second batch of these reeds, for a total now of 5. All have been of very good quality. They play OK from the start, and after play-in for a bit, and a few minor tweaks, they can be concert quality. As an older, experienced amateur bassoonist who never bothered to learn reed-making, and who has outlasted three prior reed suppliers, I think I have found my new supplier.

Perfect reeds

I only started playing my bassoon after a 30+ year absence just a few months ago using reeds that were several years old. But with the three new reeds from Crook & Staple, I've quickly been able to speed up my progress and am now able to access the high register notes relatively easily. The embouchure benefits from the new reeds and warmth is again appearing in my playing. Thanks for enabling me to enjoy my bassoon again! Like a new life for an elderly man!

Great!

Hoorah for the first reed I've had in a while that plays straight out of the box! Nice mellow tone and good throughout all registers.

Bassoon reed.

I recently bought a bassoon reed from crook and staple. It arrived quite quickly and the person I talked to on the chat team was extremely helpful!

Great reed

Very happy with this reed. I'm still breaking it in, but it was eminently usable straight out of the box. Good tone, responsive, clear and consistent across the range. Should be great, many thanks.
